In the men’s Javelin World Athletics Championship Eugene, USA, Neeraj won a silver medal. On social media, Indian Olympics Association left a statement “Our olympic champ @Neeraj_chopra1 will not be defending his title at @birminghamcg22. Due to concerns regarding his fitness. We wish a speedy recovery and are supporting him these challenging times.”
Soonafter, winning the World Athletics Silver Neeraj said, he got a groin injury while the 12-man final in Eugene. Meanwhile, Neeraj told to an news agency “I kept improving my throws throughout, but during the 4th throw, I felt pain in my groin. So I could not give everything in the last couple of throws. But I am happy with what I have done.” Rajeev Mehta, IOA secretary said Neeraj Chopra has been suggested to take a month rest.
And also Mehta added “Team India Javelin throw Mr. Neeraj Chopra had called me earlier today from the US to convey his inability to take part in the birmingham 2022 Common Wealth Games owing to fitness concerns. Following his participation in the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Mr. Chopra had an MRI scan done on monday. And based on it, he has been advised a month’s rest by his medical team.”
