India at the Commonwealth games 2022

The 2022 Commonwealth games was held in Birmingham. The games happened from the 28th July to 8th August. At the end of the 2022 Commonwealth games, India stands at the fourth position with a score of 61. These 61 medals included 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze. Indian sportsmen have made the country proud and twitter and other social media have been trending with the achievements. The 2022 Commonwealth games were the next biggest sports event after the Olympics last year. When media interacted with the sports stars who won this year, they all had a unanimous answer that they were preparing for 2024 Paris Olympics, next year.

Women’s Lawn bowling team- Gold

Men’s Table Tennis team- Gold

Sudhir- Power lifting gold

Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Deepak Punia, Ravi Dahiya, Vinesh Phogat and Naveen- Wrestling gold

Bhavina patel- Para table tennis gold

Nitu Ganghas, Amit Panghal and Nikhat Zareen- Boxing gold

Eldhose Paul- Men’s triple jump gold

Sharath Kamal(two medals), Sreeja Akula- Table Tennis gold

P V Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Chirag shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy- Badminton gold

Sanket Sargar, Vikas Thakur and Bidyarani Devi- Weightlifting silver

Sushila Devi and Tulikka Mann- Judo silver

Badminton mixed team- Silver

Murali Sreeshankar- Long jump silver

Anshu Malik- Wrestling

Priyanka Goswami- Women’s 10km racewalk silver

Avinash Sable- Men’s 3000m steeplechase silver

Men’s lawn bowling team- Silver

Abdulla Aboobacker- Men’s triple jump silver

Sharath Kamal, G Sathiyan- Table Tennis silver

Women’s cricket team- Silver

Men’s hockey team- Silver

Apart from these gold and silver medals, the bronze medals were won in sports such as- Weightlifting, Judo, Squash, High Jump, Wrestling, Boxing, Para table tennis, Hockey, Men’s 10km racewalk, Women’s Javelin Throw, Badminton and Table Tennis.

India is scoring high in international sports meets and also playing host for certain sports. This is surely a sign of development and India will become the forefront face for sports.
