What is end to end encryption in WhatsApp?

It is a protection provided by WhatsApp that only sender and receiver can read that chats or images.

It provide 64 bit digit encryption key.

How to turn on and turn off end-to-end encrypted backup

App provides end-to-end encryption for all personal messages that you send and receive to ensure that only you and the person you’re talking to can read or listen to them. With end-to-end encrypted backup, you can also add that same layer of protection to your iCloud and Google Drive backups.

Turn on end-to-end encrypted backup

  1. OpenΒ Settings.
  2. TapΒ ChatsΒ >Β Chat BackupΒ >Β End-to-end Encrypted Backup.
  3. Then TapΒ Turn On, then follow the prompts to create a password or key.
  4. TapΒ Create, and wait for WhatsApp to prepare your end-to-end encrypted backup. You might need to connect to a power source.

Note: You won’t be able to restore your backup if you lose your WhatsApp chats and forget your password or key. WhatsApp can’t reset your password or restore your backup for you.

Turn off end-to-end encrypted backup

  1. OpenΒ Settings.
  2. Then TapΒ ChatsΒ >Β Chat BackupΒ >Β End-to-end Encrypted Backup.
  3. TapΒ Turn Off.
  4. Enter your password.
  5. Confirm you want to turn off encrypted backup by tappingΒ Turn Off.
