AMAZON PLANNING TO QUIT THE RACE FOR IPL MEDIA RIGHTS

Amazon company, led by Jeff Bezos is planning to withdraw from the competition for rights to publicize the IPL matches, leaving Walt Disney Company and Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries in the competitive ring. The rights of the stream are estimated about $7.7 billion.

Jeff Bezos is planning to exit the war rather than bidding on June 12 auction. The surprise pull-out of Amazon has created a terrific game dominating the Indian consumer market.

The IPL is a massive viewership tournament held in and around APRIL and MAY every year.

Ten teams play, entertaining the massive audience of about half a billion views. The expensive affair of the hyper-competitive auction is not only winning the auction but it is grounded in conventional profit and loss logic.
